Bavaria-Saat includes two independent divisions, which deal with the breeding of potato varieties (Bavaria-Saat GbR) as well as with the international distribution of plant and table potatoes (Bavaria-Saat Vertriebs GmbH).
BAVARIA SAAT GBR
Bavaria-Saat GbR was founded in 1987 as a fusion of several traditional Bavarian potato cultivators, with partly more than 100 years of breeding experiences.
Breeding stations in Bavaria and the healthy climate of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as cooperative partners on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein guarantee a high qualitative production of seed material.
A close cooperation with the Institut of Plant Production of the Bavarian Central Authority of Agriculture in Freising-Weihenstephan ensures that we will be able to answer future questions concerning potato breeding. Potato varieties breeded in Freising/Weihenstephan are selected and introduced in the market in cooperation with the Bayerische Pflanzenzuchtgesellschaft München (BPZ).
BAVARIA SAAT VERTRIEBS GMBH
Bavaria-Saat Vertriebs GmbH was founded in 2003 to sell exclusively the potato varieties breeded by Bavaria-Saat GbR on the domestic and export markets.
Another main focus of activity is the trade in table potatoes and onions throughout Europe. Great importance is placed on a long term and trustful cooperation with our business partners.
